Three-channel video | 2020
Throughout the work, the intrusion of passing car headlights serves as an erratic, external lighting source, momentarily pulling the performers out of the darkness. These sudden floods of light create a transient spotlight, exposing the tension between visibility and vulnerability. In The Cliff, Katz investigates the body's negotiation with a landscape that is simultaneously a site of exclusion and a stage for survivalist performance.

The Cliff was filmed at Tel Aviv’s "Southern Cliff" beach, a site defined by its stark liminality. By day a space for public leisure, the location undergoes a nocturnal shift into a zone of sex work and transient encounters. The women in the video navigate this backdrop through a series of continuous performances, their gestures fluctuating between a direct confrontation with the site’s inherent violence and a conscious, protective avoidance of it.
